On Wednesday December 18th, 2024, Mr. Jack Kirby (Madame Michaud’s class bearded dragon pet) hosted a Festive Market to kick off the holiday season. Students of three classes became young entrepreneurs and divided into groups based on interests to prepare business plans and present it to investors. Mme Michaud and Mr. Fletcher’s school funds invested to make these concepts a reality. Students worked very hard in class and sometimes during their activity period to make everything and get it ready for today. Students learned a diverse array of skills like soap making, felting, finger knitting, crochet, woodwork, candle making, baking, origami, graphic design, the importance of bilingual signage, language arts, teamwork, negotiating, and the intricate workings of owning a business. Students are now going to do some accounting work to reimburse their investors and some reflection on how things went. They can now reap the rewards of work well done during a well-deserved class celebration and decide where they go next with their profits. Will some be reinvested? What community building class activity will they choose to do? Only time will tell… Ce n’est pas fini, ce n’est qu’un début.
